Kim Cox PhD, CNM

Assistant Professor

Dr. Cox joined the University of New Mexico, College of Nursing as an Assistant Professor in 2011. She is a Certified Nurse-Midwife (CNM) with over 25 years of experience. Her research focuses on process and outcomes of midwifery care, including out-of hospital birth, postpartum weight management, and decision-making and access to vaginal birth after cesarean (VBAC). Dr. Cox is an active member of the American College of Nurse-Midwives (ACNM), and has contributed to clinical guidelines and other standard-setting documents. She also serves on the Research Committee of the American Association of Birth Centers (AABC).

Cox received her BSN, MD and PhD from the University of Florida, Gainesville, and currently teaches both research methods and nurse-midwifery courses.
