Congratulations to Barbara Damron, PhD, RN, FAAN, Recipient of the 2014 National C-Change Award!

On May 16, 2014, Dr. Barbara Damron was honored as the 2014 National C-Change Comprehensive Cancer Control Champion Award recipient. Dr. Damron is Associate Professor with the RWJF Nursing and Health Policy Collaborative at the University of New Mexico, College of Nursing. She also developed and is Director of the Office of Community Partnerships and Cancer Health Disparities and is a full Scientific Member in the Cancer Control and Population Sciences at the UNM Cancer Center (the only National Cancer Institute-designated cancer center in New Mexico; see full bio)

C-Change is a leading advocacy nonprofit organization for promoting cancer prevention, early detection, treatment, and research. The selection process for the C-Change Award begins with each state nominating several individuals who are then vetted through the state’s cancer council. Once the council reviews the nominees, one individual from each state is selected to be considered by the national organization, who chooses one “champion” from among more than 50 nominees (Washington, DC, and some territories were also represented).
