Dr. Sally S. Cohen Receives the 1st Endowed Chair Award for UNM College of Nursing

Sally S. Cohen, PhD, RN, FAAN was the first recipient of the Virginia P. Crenshaw Endowed Chair in Nursing. This prestigious award, which represents the highest honor the University can bestow on a faculty member, was presented by Dean Nancy Ridenour at a ceremony held on November 1, 2012.

Dr. Cohen is Associate Professor and Director of the RWJF Nursing and Health Policy Collaborative at the UNM College of Nursing. She was given this esteemed distinction based on her leadership of the Collaborative and her ability to bring together scholars and experts from both the clinical and social sciences. Under Dr. Cohen’s directorship, the Collaborative helps to prepare fellows in its nursing PhD program to become leaders in health policy and engage in partnerships with other health professionals, researchers, community leaders, and policymakers to focus on the health care needs of vulnerable populations.

 

Sally S. Cohen, PhD, RN, FAAN is the New Deputy Editor for Policy, Politics & Nursing Practice

Dr. Sally S. Cohen has been appointed the Deputy Editor for the Sage Publication journal Policy, Politics & Nursing Practice (PPNP). Dr. Sally S. Cohen’s, Nomination to the National Advisory Council on Nurse Education and Practice

Congratulations to Dr. Sally Cohen for her nomination to the National Advisory Council on Nurse Education and Practice (NACNEP).  Dr. Cohen will be working with issues related to the nurse workforce, nursing education, and nursing practice.  She has been nominated for a four year term.

The NACNEP advises the U.S. Congress and the Secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services on policy issues related to the Title VIII programs administered by the HRSA (Health Resources and Services Administration) Bureau of Health Professions Division of Nursing.
