Example of Nurses Influencing Policy – AWHONN Postpartum Hemorrhage Project

AWHONN’s PPH Project is a great example of nurses making an impact on health policy. The PPH Project is designed to reduce clinician errors associated with obstetric hemorrhage mortality and morbidity by improving clinician’s recognition of, readiness for, and response to a postpartum hemorrhage event.

Hospitals in the District of Columbia, Georgia, and New Jersey will be selected to participate in a Quality Improvement (QI) collaborative. The participating hospital leaders will receive expert coaching from the multi-disciplinary Quality Improvement Expert Panel, composed of physicians, nurses, and AWHONN staff, and peer coaching and guidance from other participating hospitals.

This website also provides access to outstanding resources, including posters, handouts, and webinars.
