Welcome to the NM Nurse Practitioner Survey!

Maurice L. Moffett, PhD, from the Office for Community Health, and Sally S. Cohen, PhD, from the Department of Nursing are conducting a research study. The purpose of the study is to evaluate the market for nurse practitioners in New Mexico towards a long-term goal of identifying optimal strategies to increase access to medical care, increase quality of care and reduce costs.  The study is supported by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF). We invited you to participate in this study because you are a licensed nurse practitioner as identified by the New Mexico Board of Nursing.

Your participation will involve answering a survey on your experience, education, licensure and practice environment. The survey should take about 15 minutes to complete. Your involvement in the study is voluntary, and you may choose not to participate. There are no names or identifying information associated with this survey.  The survey includes questions such as primary area of nurse practitioner practice and approximately what percentage of your time is spent in direct patient care. You can refuse to answer any of the questions at any time. The questions pertain to your current practice and future plans; there are no known risks in this study. All responses will be kept on a secure server in the College of Nursing.

The findings from this project will provide information on how using nurse practitioners can enhance access to health care, improve the quality of care, and alleviate the shortage of healthcare practitioners throughout New Mexico. If published, results will be presented in summary form only.

If you have any questions about this research project, please feel free to call Catherine Joy at (505) 272-4578. If you have questions regarding your legal rights as a research subject, you may call the UNMHSC Office of Human Research Protections at (505) 272-1129.
